Import guide
Export your trades from any platform
Find your platform, follow the clicks, drop the file into TradeCompass. Columns are matched for you and nothing saves until you confirm.
No file? Screenshot it
Snap your trade list, your daily summary or a P/L chart — even on a phone app — and AI fills in your journal.
Got a file? Drop it in
CSV is best. Columns look odd? AI can read the file for you.
Tired of exporting?
NinjaTrader, MetaTrader 5, Tradovate and TopstepX can sync on their own.
Tradovate
CSV, one row per order · Desktop app and web
- Open Account Reports: on desktop, click the gear next to your account; on the web, click the Reports icon on the right-hand toolbar.
- Pick the account (sim and live are separate — do one at a time).
- Open the Orders tab — not Performance.
- Set the From and To dates and click Go.
- Click Download Report (Download CSV on the web) and choose CSV, not PDF.
Watch out for
- The Orders file has no fee column. Set your fees per contract on the account in TradeCompass (Accounts → Edit) and they're filled in for you.
- Cancelled and rejected orders are in the file too — the import skips them.
- Exports don't work in Market Replay mode.
- File looks short? Export month by month.
The Tradovate app shows your reports but has no confirmed file export. Screenshot it instead and use “Screenshot it” in the import — AI fills it in.
Skip exporting for good: the TradeCompass browser extension syncs Tradovate on the web as you trade (Beta).
NinjaTrader 8 (desktop)
CSV, one row per fill · Windows desktop
- In the Control Center click New → Trade Performance.
- Pick ONE account in the account filter (sim and live are listed together).
- Set the From and To dates.
- Set Display to Executions.
- Click Generate.
- Right-click the list → Export…, set Save as type to CSV, and save.
Watch out for
- Export greyed out? You're on the Summary view — switch Display to Executions first.
- The Executions tab at the bottom of the Control Center mostly shows today only. Use Trade Performance for older days.
- Save as CSV, not Excel — Excel can change the times.
- Times are your computer's clock — keep “My computer's time zone” when you import.
Skip exporting for good: the NinjaTrader add-on sends every fill live — and your AI agent can install it for you.
NinjaTrader web & mobile
CSV, one row per fill · Web (in your browser)
- Log in to NinjaTrader on the web.
- Click your profile icon (top right) → Statements.
- Pick the date range and set Report Type to Fills.
- Click Download CSV.
Watch out for
- Didn't find Statements? The web platform runs on Tradovate — the Tradovate steps work too.
No confirmed export in the NinjaTrader phone app. Screenshot it instead and use “Screenshot it” in the import — AI fills it in.
Skip exporting for good: the TradeCompass browser extension syncs NinjaTrader web as you trade (Beta).
TopstepX
CSV, one row per trade · Web (desktop browser)
- Pick the account (top left).
- Open the Trades tab at the bottom of the page.
- Click Export (bottom right of the tab).
- Choose the date range and click Export again — the file downloads.
Watch out for
- Empty file? Widen the range — for today, start yesterday and end two days ahead.
- Downloaded without “.csv” at the end? Rename it so it ends in .csv.
- Don't open and re-save it in Excel first — that changes the times.
- Times are reported as UTC — pick UTC when you import, then check one trade against TopstepX.
- Closed account? Topstep Dashboard → Accounts → turn on Show Closed Accounts.
TopstepX has no app — on a phone, open it in the browser with Desktop Mode off. The Trades tab lists every trade with entry, exit and P/L: screenshot it and use “Screenshot it”.
Skip exporting for good: the TradeCompass browser extension syncs TopstepX as you trade (Beta). With a ProjectX API key (a paid add-on from Topstep) it can also sync from Integrations.
Rithmic (R | Trader Pro)
CSV, one row per order · Windows desktop
- Open Recent Orders (today) or Order History (older days).
- Pick the account and ONE date.
- In Completed Orders, right-click the column headings → Add/Remove columns.
- Tick Account, Status, Buy/Sell, Symbol, Qty Filled, Avg Fill Price, Order Number, Update Time and Commission, then OK.
- Export as CSV (the export icon at the top) and save.
Watch out for
- One day per export — a week is five files. Drop them in one after another; duplicates are skipped.
- Qty Filled is the column that matters. Without it the import can't size your trades.
- Apex, Topstep and other firms on Rithmic all use this same screen — one export per account.
- A renamed Excel file isn't a CSV. Export as CSV.
R | Trader's phone app shows your orders, with no known export. Screenshot it instead and use “Screenshot it” in the import — AI fills it in.
Quantower
CSV, one row per fill · Windows desktop
- Open the Trades panel (Portfolio → Trades).
- Set the date range on the panel.
- Right-click the panel (or open its ☰ menu) → Export data.
- Tick Check All Columns and keep comma separated.
- Click Export file.
Watch out for
- History depends on your connection (Rithmic, Tradovate…). Check the first and last dates in the file, and export in smaller chunks if some are missing.
- Quantower's History Exporter is for price data, not your trades — use the Trades panel.
TradingView
CSV, one row per order · Web and desktop
- Open any chart and the Trading Panel at the bottom (Paper Trading, or your broker's name).
- Open the Order History tab.
- Turn on every column with the column-setup icon (top right of the table).
- Click the Download data icon → Order history. A CSV downloads.
Watch out for
- Resetting a Paper Trading account deletes its history — export first.
- Only Filled orders become trades; cancelled ones are skipped.
- Bar Replay trades aren't saved in Order History.
No confirmed export in the TradingView phone app. Screenshot it instead and use “Screenshot it” in the import — AI fills it in.
Skip exporting for good: the TradeCompass browser extension syncs TradingView in your browser as you trade (Beta).
Sierra Chart
Text file (tab-separated), one row per fill · Windows desktop
- Trade → Trade Activity Log, then the Trade Activity tab.
- Display Settings: set Trade Activity Type to Fills and click Apply.
- Set the From and To dates (start at a time you had no open position).
- File → Save Log As. Drop that file in — it's in the SavedTradeActivity folder.
Watch out for
- Use Save Log As, not Export — Export writes UTC times and raw prices.
- Times follow your Global Time Zone setting — pick the same zone when you import.
- Most trading services keep only a short history in Sierra Chart. Export every day or week.
Apex, Topstep, Take Profit Trader, MyFundedFutures
From your trading platform · —
- The firms' dashboards show your stats but have no trade-history download.
- Export from the platform you trade the account on instead: Tradovate, NinjaTrader, Rithmic, TopstepX, Quantower or TradingView (all above).
Watch out for
- Each funded or evaluation account is its own account in the platform — export each one, or name your TradeCompass accounts like the platform's so trades land in the right place.
On your phone only? Screenshot it instead and use “Screenshot it” in the import — AI fills it in.
MetaTrader 5
HTML report (AI reads it) · Windows / Mac desktop
- Open the Toolbox (Ctrl+T) → History tab.
- Right-click the list → pick the period (All History, Last 3 Months, or Custom period).
- Right-click again → Report → HTML. Save it.
- Drop the .html file into the import — there are no columns to match, AI reads it for you.
Watch out for
- MetaTrader has no CSV option. The Excel (.xlsx) report won't import — use HTML.
- Times are your broker's server time, not yours — pick “MetaTrader server time” when you import (it's usually picked for you).
- Long history? One report per few months — the AI reads up to 300 trades at a time.
- Prop firm accounts (FTMO, FundedNext, The5ers…) use the same steps in their copy of MT5.
- Demo and live are separate logins — log in to the right one first.
In the MT5 app: History → set the period (the clock or calendar icon) and screenshot the list, then use “Screenshot it”. The app's PDF report can't be imported.
Skip exporting for good: the MT5 add-on sends every deal live — and your AI agent can install it for you.
MetaTrader 4
HTML report (AI reads it) · Windows / Mac desktop
- Open the Terminal (Ctrl+T) → Account History tab.
- Right-click → pick the period (All History, Last Month, or Custom Period).
- Right-click again → Save as Report. Save the HTML file.
- Drop the .html file into the import — AI reads it for you.
Watch out for
- Turn on Commissions in the same right-click menu before saving.
- Times are your broker's server time — pick “MetaTrader server time” when you import (it's usually picked for you).
- Deposits and withdrawals are in the report too — they aren't trades and get skipped.
The MT4 app can't export. History tab → set the period (it shows only today at first) → screenshot the list → “Screenshot it”.
cTrader
CSV (or Excel), one row per deal · Desktop and web
- Open the History tab in the Trade Watch panel.
- Set the period above the list.
- Click Statement — it opens in a new tab.
- Click Save and drop the file in. CSV and HTML both work (AI reads HTML); an Excel file needs Save As → CSV first.
Watch out for
- Stop loss and take profit aren't in the statement — add them to your trades in the journal if you want R-multiples.
- Statement button shows a blank page on the web? Try the desktop app.
The cTrader app lists every deal under History (with a period filter) but can't export. Screenshot it instead and use “Screenshot it” in the import — AI fills it in.
Match-Trader
CSV, one row per closed position · Web
- Open the Closed Positions tab.
- Click Download (at the right end of the column headers).
- Format: CSV. Period: Last 366 days for everything. Keep only Closed Positions ticked.
- Click Export.
Watch out for
- Older than a year? Export year by year.
- No Download button? Some prop firms switch it off — ask the firm for a statement, or screenshot the tab.
No confirmed export in the app. Screenshot it instead and use “Screenshot it” in the import — AI fills it in.
Skip exporting for good: the TradeCompass browser extension syncs Match-Trader as you trade (Beta). Add your firm's site from the extension's button.
DXtrade
No trade-list export · —
- DXtrade has no CSV download of your trades.
- Open Trade History (or the Trading Journal), set the period, and screenshot the list — then use “Screenshot it” in the import. Up to 6 screenshots at once.
Watch out for
- Scroll a little less than a screen each time so every row shows up — overlapping rows are only counted once.
Same on the phone: Menu → Trade History, screenshot it, and use “Screenshot it”.
Skip exporting for good: the TradeCompass browser extension syncs DXtrade as you trade (Beta). Add your firm's site from the extension's button.
TradeLocker
No export (TradeLocker's own answer) · —
- TradeLocker doesn't offer any trade-history download — their support says to screenshot the History panel.
- Open History, screenshot it (scroll and take more if needed, up to 6), and use “Screenshot it” in the import. AI fills it in.
Watch out for
- Keep the date, symbol, side, size and prices visible in each screenshot.
Works the same from the phone: screenshot the History panel and use “Screenshot it”.
Skip exporting for good: the TradeCompass browser extension syncs TradeLocker as you trade (Beta).
FTMO (client area)
CSV, one row per trade · Web
- Log in to the FTMO Client Area → Accounts Overview.
- Under the account, click MetriX.
- Scroll to Trading Journal → Export → CSV.
Watch out for
- No Export button? Use your platform's export instead (MetaTrader 5, cTrader or DXtrade above).
Interactive Brokers
CSV, one row per execution · Client Portal (web)
- Client Portal → Performance & Reports → Flex Queries.
- Click + next to Activity Flex Query and give it a name.
- Sections: Trades → Executions, Select All. Format: CSV. Save.
- Click the Run arrow next to the query, pick your dates, choose CSV and Run.
Watch out for
- A run covers up to a year — do older years one by one.
- Paper and live are separate accounts — pick the right one in the account selector.
Interactive Brokers can sync on its own from Integrations.
thinkorswim (Schwab)

- Monitor tab → Account Statement.
- Set the date range (it starts at only the last 24 hours).
- On the Trade History row, click the gear → Customize → Load Defaults, so every column shows.
- Actions menu (top right) → Export to File. Save the CSV.
Watch out for
- Only the columns you can see are exported — that's why Load Defaults matters.
- paperMoney is a separate login.

Another platform
CSV — or a screenshot · Anywhere

- Export it as CSV (or Excel, then Save As → CSV).
- Drop it in. Columns are matched for you — if they look wrong, “Let AI read it”.
Watch out for
- Prefer a list with one row per fill or execution. A list of closed trades works too.
- PDF statements can't be read yet — screenshot them.
No export button? Screenshot it instead and use “Screenshot it” in the import — AI fills it in.

Open the import in your journal. Fills are paired into trades, fees included, duplicates skipped.
