The Consistency Rule, With the Maths

Why one big day can delay your pass, and how to work out what you need.

Many firms want profit spread across days, not one lucky session. The consistency rule is how they measure it.

What it says

Your best day can be at most a set share of your total profit — often 50%, sometimes 30–40%. Break it and you don't fail, but you can't pass until the share comes down.

The maths

Total profit you need = your best day ÷ the rule's share.

Example

Target $3,000, consistency 50%. Your best day made $2,000.

$2,000 ÷ 0.5 = $4,000: you need $4,000 in total, so $2,000 must come from other days.

Staying inside it

Know your biggest allowed day before the session: the rule's share of your target. With a 50% rule and a $3,000 target, keep every day under $1,500 and the rule never bites.

How each firm does it

Evaluation plans, as the firms published them (checked October 2026). Firms change their rules — check the firm's own page before you pay.

Key words:Discipline

TradeCompass turns this into your own rules: it checks every trade against them and warns you before you break one.
