Cutting winners short
Closing a winner before its target feels safe, but it quietly breaks your math: your average winner shrinks while your losers stay full size.
If you plan 2R targets and take most winners at 1R, you need a much higher win rate to stay profitable — usually higher than you have.
Check exit efficiency on your trade pages: how much of the best move you kept. Low numbers on winners mean the exit, not the entry, is the problem.
Decide the exit before the entry, and let the order work. If you manage the trade, do it by a rule (e.g. stop to break-even at +1R), not by feel.
TradeCompass turns this into your own rules: it checks every trade against them and warns you before you break one.
